The Festival of Bands USA features a very full day of marching activities for a large lineup of bands from South Dakota, Minnesota, Iowa and Nebraska. This 31st year of competition is expected to draw up to 10,000 visitors and competing band members. The 2017 lineup featured 30 bands on parade and 20 bands in field performance.

During the parade and at prelims, bands compete in four classes for rating and ranking, with judges offering evaluation and commentary to the competitors. Trophies are awarded to the top three bands in each class. At finals, the 10 advancing bands compete in one class for trophies to the top five places.

Festival of Bands: A musical event hosted and staffed by the band parents and band directors of Sioux Falls Lincoln, O'Gorman, Roosevelt and Washington High Schools.

• Admission wristbands can be purchased in advance at Sioux Falls Lewis Drug Stores or at the gate on the day of the event.
• Wristbands:
     Adults - $15
     Students Grades K-12 & College Students with Valid ID - $10
     Children 5 and under are free
• Wristbands are valid for admission to both prelims and finals. (The stadium is NOT cleared between prelims and finals, so you can remain in your seat for both events.)
• Festival program books are $5.00.

• An awards ceremony is held at the stadium immediately following the field competition.
