Drum Corps International offers ticket discounts, incentives for band groups

State-of-the-art drum and bugle corps performances motivate students

Drum Corps International logo Band directors can expose their students to powerful marching programs presented by drum and bugle corps during this year's Drum Corps International summer tour. Groups ordering 20 or more tickets qualify for a discounted ticket rate, complimentary tickets and additional incentives.

The larger the group, the greater the incentives. For example, group leaders ordering 70 or more tickets receive a 2011 World Championship DVD. With 125 or more tickets the leader also receives a subscription to the DCI Fan Network and two tickets to the 2011 World Championship Finals. For a complete list of incentives and instructions on how to order tickets, visit www.dci.org/tickets/groups.

DCI's 2011 summer tour includes 115 events in 40 states, putting at least one corps show within driving distance for most high school marching bands. The tour begins June 18 with a show in Saginaw, Texas, and ends with the DCI World Championships in Indianapolis on August 13. View the complete schedule and show lineups at www.dci.org/schedule.

Drum and Bugle Corps photos Events in 22 cities are designated as "premier events" which are held in large stadiums and offer some of the tour's largest lineups. The 2011 premier events include:
  • Saginaw, TX – June 18
  • Round Rock, TX – June 19
  • Indianapolis, IN – June 21
  • Muncie, IN – June 24

Among the corps competing on the 2011 tour are legendary organizations such as the Troopers, Casper, WY; Blue Devils, Concord, CA; Madison Scouts, Madison, WI; and Phantom Regiment, Rockford, IL. Two corps from overseas will also be participating: Jubal from The Netherlands and Yokohama Scouts from Japan.

The 2011 DCI World Championships in Indianapolis will include several new twists, including a new Thursday prelims format that will include performances by all World Class, Open Class and International Corps. More than 40 corps are expected to go head-to-head in that contest. Another addition to Championships week is a Saturday morning parade that will travel through downtown Indianapolis.

"Attending a Drum Corps International summer tour event keeps students engaged through the summer," said John DeNovi, director of business development for DCI. "It's a great way for a high school director to reward student leaders, inspire excellence, jump start a band camp and celebrate participation in marching music with administrators, students and their families."

Select events on the summer tour will feature pre-show clinics that allow students to get up close and personal with top instructors and performers from some of DCI's top corps. Check DCI.org for details.
