Zach Woodlee master class set for day after WGI Color Guard Championships
Learn movement skills from popular "Glee" choreographer
DAYTON, OH, March 13, 2012 Zach Woodlee, one of today's most sought after choreographers in the entertainment industry, will make his debut appearance at the 2012 WGI Color Guard World Championships as part of WGI's highly popular "Day After" series. His work as the co-producer and choreographer on the hit show "Glee" has set an industry standard in helping it achieve its iconic pop culture status. Woodlee also serves as a mentor on Oxygen's newest competition show "The Glee Project."
Mr. Woodlee will be WGI's very special guest as the world's best color guards vie for the title at this year's World Finals. On Sunday, April 15, he will conduct a master class on the floor of UD Arena for 500 performers beginning at 10:00 AM.
"We are very excited to welcome Zach Woodlee to our 'Day After' series," said WGI Executive Director Ron Nankervis. "His work on 'Glee' is very popular with our performers and we always welcome an opportunity to bring a dance professional into our world to make this an extraordinary experience for our students. I'm sure this will be no exception."
Zach Woodlee has been surrounded by dance his entire life and began his career as a dancer touring with Mandy Moore and Madonna. He has appeared in numerous movies such as "Not Another Teen Movie," "The Sweetest Thing," "Charlie's Angels: Full Throttle," "Step Up" and "Saturday Night Live."
Along with "Glee" and "The Glee Project," Zach has also served as a choreographer for projects including the television series "How I Met Your Mother 100th Episode," "The Oprah Winfrey Show" and the 2008 MTV Movie Awards. In addition, his choreography can been seen in notable films such as "Hairspray," "27 Dresses," "Step Up," "The Proposal," "The 40 Year Old Virgin," "Eat, Pray, Love" and "Real Steel." Woodlee also choreographed the very successful Glee Live Tour.
Directors and managers of groups attending World Championships will be able to register their performers beginning Friday, March 16 at 1:00 PM (Eastern) to experience a class led by one television's most successful choreographers working today. Registration fee for dancers will be $25 per person. Students wishing to participate should go through their director. Color guard directors may call the office to order dancer tickets, 937-247-5919.
