
The Bands of America Grand National Championships is recognized as the premier marching band event in the nation. Bands from across
America compete, including some of the finest, most progressive bands in the activity today. The annual event also features exhibition
performances by outstanding college bands from across the country. A total of 110 marching bands from 23 states registered to perform during the 2017 event.
The field competition features 100 bands in preliminary competition on Thursday and Friday, with up to 36 bands advancing to semi-finals during the
day on Saturday. Twelve bands advance to finals on Saturday evening. Special exhibition groups appearing in 2017 included
the Marian University Marching Knights, Bowling Green State University Marching Band, University of Alabama Marching Band and United States Marine Drum and Bugle Corps.
All performances take place in Lucas Oil Stadium in downtown Indianapolis.

The event kicks off on Wednesday night with the Indianapolis Marching Band Tournament, featuring local bands in competition. The event also includes an Expo of more than 100 booths, the Student Leadership Workshop with Dr. Tim Lautzenheiser, and other special events and clinics.

Bands of America is a program of Music for All. Since 1975, MFA, through its Bands of America and Orchestra America programs, has been a
